About
About Looniee, and how we check our numbers
Looniee is a net worth and investment portfolio tracker for Canadians. It brings your investment accounts, cash and other assets into one view through manual entry and file imports, without connecting to your bank or brokerage. It's made by the Looniee team for people in Canada, and it's paid for by Looniee Plus subscriptions: no ads, no bank logins, and your data isn't sold.

What Looniee does
- TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP room is calculated from CRA rules and the contributions and withdrawals you log in the Planner, per person.
- Looniee does not connect to banks or brokerages and never asks for their passwords. Balances and trades arrive by import or by typing them.
- CSV, TSV and Excel (.xlsx, .xls) files. TD, RBC, CIBC, Questrade and Wealthsimple files are recognised by dedicated parsers; any other broker's file is matched column by column (English or French headers), and you confirm the match once.
- Looniee Plus tracks up to 6 people inside one Looniee login: each account is labelled with its owner, and you can view the household together or one person at a time, with each person's contribution room kept separately.
- Free TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, RESP and Home Buyers' Plan calculators work without an account. The TFSA calculator starts your room in the later of the year you turned 18 and the year you became a Canadian resident, so it also works for newcomers.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
Looniee is a good fit for:
- A Canadian who wants TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP contribution room tracked next to their holdings, without giving a bank or brokerage login to anyone (free plan).
- A couple or family who want each person's accounts and contribution room kept separately in one place (Plus, up to 6 people).
- Someone moving off Blossom, Wealthica or a spreadsheet who can export a broker file or take screenshots (free plan).
- A non-registered investor who needs ACB and capital gains with USD trades valued at each day's exchange rate, and a superficial-loss check before selling (Plus).
- Someone choosing between a TFSA, RRSP and FHSA, or planning RESP grants, who wants the answer worked out from their own balances (Plus).
Something else will suit you better if you're one of these:
- People who want accounts to update by themselves: Looniee has no bank or brokerage sync, so new trades are imported or typed. Wealthica and Kubera sync.
- Budgeting or spending tracking: Looniee tracks investments and net worth, not spending categories.
- Investors outside Canada: the account types, room rules and tax tools are Canadian.
- A dedicated dividend app or a full financial-planning suite: Snowball and ProjectionLab go deeper there.
- Sharing access with a partner or adviser on separate logins: whoever holds the one login sees every account.
Who makes it
Looniee is built by the Looniee team, an independent team: no bank, brokerage or fund company owns it. It's made for people in Canada, which is why the account types, the contribution-room rules and the tax tools are Canadian. You can reach us at hello@looniee.ca.
How Looniee makes money
From subscriptions to Looniee Plus. The two plans:
- Looniee Plus: CA$9 a month billed monthly, or CA$72 a year billed yearly (works out to CA$6 a month).
- Free plan: Free with no card and no time limit, for up to 3 accounts, 10 holdings and 500 transactions, one person. Every tracking feature works on it: live prices, contribution room, imports, dividends, export and the calculators.
There are no ads, and we don't sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.
We also run a partner program: someone who refers a paying subscriber earns 30% of what that subscriber pays in their first 12 months. No company whose product we compare pays us, and our links to other products carry no affiliate code.
How we check our numbers
Looniee's guides and calculators deal with money and tax rules, so every figure on them has to trace back to a source you can check.
- One engine for the app and the pages. The calculators and guides read every limit, deadline and rule from the same code the app uses to work out your room, so a page can't print a number the math doesn't use. Automated tests pin each published limit and run before every release.
- Sources on the page. Each guide and calculator lists the canada.ca or Statistics Canada pages it was checked against, and shows the date it was last checked. That's the same date we give search engines.
- Estimates are labelled. A figure the CRA hasn't published yet, such as next year's TFSA limit before the November announcement, is worked out from the published indexation formula and marked as an estimate until the CRA confirms it.
- Comparisons are dated and include our weak spots. Facts about other products (price, how data gets in, apps) come from each product's own website and were last checked on October 20, 2026. Every product we list, Looniee included, has its downsides written next to its strengths, and Looniee isn't the first pick in 7 of our 11 buying guides. There are no star ratings and no paid placements.
- Claims about Looniee come from one checked list. What the site says Looniee does is kept in a single list of facts verified against the product, which also records what it doesn't do: no bank sync, no budgeting, and no Canadian data residency.
- Corrections. If you find a mistake, email hello@looniee.ca. We correct the page and update its date.
Your data
- In an encrypted PostgreSQL database (Neon), with hosting on Vercel and sign-in by Clerk. These providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
- Download everything at any time from Settings, as an Excel workbook (accounts, holdings, transactions, Planner) or a JSON backup.
- Wipe your data and keep your login, or delete the account outright, which cancels any subscription and erases everything immediately.
- AI features use Google Gemini through the Vercel AI Gateway. Your data is not used to train models, and every part of Looniee except the AI features works without sending anything to an AI provider.
The full details are in the privacy policy.
Not financial advice
Looniee is informational software, not financial, tax or investment advice, and we aren't a registered adviser. Contribution-room figures are estimates: check them against CRA My Account before you act on them. See the disclaimer.
