What Kubera does better
Breadth. Kubera tracks things Looniee doesn't try to: crypto wallets and DeFi, private investments with capital calls and IRR, and real assets valued with an AI appraiser. It quotes stocks on every major exchange in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe and Asia.
Sync, with fallbacks. It runs several aggregators at once (Plaid, Yodlee, MX, SnapTrade and others), plus a Web Sync for institutions that won't connect, and manual entry for the rest. Looniee has no sync at all.
Multi-currency all the way through. Kubera describes currency handling as running through every layer of the product, which matters if you hold assets in several countries and report in more than one currency.
Sharing and estate features. You can share the picture with family, assistants, advisors and accountants, and Kubera offers a dead man's switch that passes access on if you stop checking in. Looniee has no sharing; a household on Plus lives inside one login.
Apps. Kubera has iPhone and Android apps. Looniee is web only.
What Looniee does better
Canadian registered accounts. Kubera's pages don't mention TFSAs, RRSPs, FHSAs or RESPs, and there's no Canada-specific page. Looniee works out room from CRA rules: TFSA withdrawals come back on January 1 of the next year, the RRSP's $2,000 over-contribution buffer, the FHSA's $8,000 carry-forward cap and RESP grant catch-up, with each person in the household tracked separately.
Price, and a free plan. Kubera's Essentials plan is US$250 a year and Black is US$2,500 a year, with no free plan. Looniee is free for one person up to the free caps, and Plus is CA$72 a year.
Nothing to break. Kubera's own help centre says "100% connectivity is impossible" and that connections can drop or show incorrect balances. Looniee never connects, so there's no connection to drop.
Canadian tax details. Looniee Plus calculates average-cost ACB across your non-registered accounts and flags superficial losses, and the free Income tab estimates the foreign withholding each account loses based on where each company is based. Canadian ACB isn't documented on Kubera's pages.
Who each one is for
If you hold a home in Canada, a brokerage account in the US, a stake in a private fund and some crypto, and you think in more than one currency, Kubera is built for you and Looniee isn't. Looniee would track the Canadian accounts well and leave the rest as manual entries.
If your wealth is mostly a TFSA, an RRSP, maybe an FHSA or an RESP, and a non-registered account at one or two Canadian brokers, Kubera's breadth is mostly unused and its price is hard to justify. The question you'll keep asking is how much room you have left, and that's the question Looniee is built around.
On price
Kubera lists Essentials at US$250 a year and Black at US$2,500 a year; its homepage doesn't show a monthly price, and its terms say billing is monthly or yearly depending on the plan. Looniee Plus is CA$9/mo, or CA$72/yr (CA$6/mo), and the free plan covers 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions.
Using both
Some Canadians with complex wealth use a global tracker for the whole balance sheet and check room separately. Looniee's free contribution room calculators need no account, so you can check TFSA, RRSP or FHSA room without moving anything.
Questions
- Does Kubera work in Canada?
- Kubera lists Canada among the exchanges it quotes, and its aggregators cover some Canadian institutions, but it has no Canada-specific page and its pages don't name Canadian institutions or mention TFSAs and RRSPs (checked October 7, 2026). Its prices are in US dollars.
- Does Kubera have a free plan?
- No. It offers a 14-day trial, after which you choose Essentials (US$250 a year) or Black (US$2,500 a year). Its terms say any trial fee is shown at sign-up and the subscription doesn't start automatically unless stated.
- Can Looniee track crypto and property?
- As manual assets, yes: property, vehicles, private holdings, collectibles and other assets you value yourself. Looniee doesn't sync crypto wallets or exchanges, and it doesn't appraise property for you.
- Does Looniee connect to my bank?
- No. Looniee never asks for a bank or broker password. You import the CSV or Excel file your broker lets you download, upload a screenshot, or type holdings in. Prices update automatically; trades don't.
Kubera's prices and features were checked on its own website on October 20, 2026. Products change, so check anything that matters to you before you choose either one.
