The 5 best Kubera alternatives for Canadian households (2026)

Kubera is built for complicated balance sheets: several currencies, private investments, property, crypto and entities, kept in sync. Canadians who look elsewhere usually want one of three things: Canadian institutions that connect reliably, a lower price, or tracking that understands TFSAs and RRSPs.

Kubera does things none of the alternatives below match. It runs several aggregators at once (Plaid, Yodlee, MX, SnapTrade and others) with a Web Sync fallback, handles multiple currencies throughout, tracks alternatives and crypto, offers granular sharing with family and advisors, and has a dead man's switch for passing access on. If you rely on those, nothing here is a straight upgrade.

We make Looniee, one of the products below. Most Kubera users and most Looniee users are different people, so we've ranked it third.

01Wealthica

Best for synced Canadian institutions, families and trusts

Price
Connect $6.25/mo or $50/yr (3 core Canadian connections); Unlimited Connect $9.99/mo or $75/yr; Premium $19.99/mo or $150/yr; Prestige $29.99/mo or $250/yr. The pricing page doesn't state a currency. 14-day free trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee. No free plan is listed on the pricing page.
How data gets in
Read-only connections through aggregators: 200+ core Canadian institutions, 20,000+ worldwide
Entities and family
Groups for family members, trusts and other entities; dashboard sharing

If what you want from Kubera is everything in one synced view, Wealthica is the Canadian equivalent. It connects to more than 200 core Canadian institutions and 20,000+ worldwide (US institutions are in beta), plus 500+ crypto exchanges and wallets, and lets you group accounts by family member, trust or entity.

Its Prestige plan is $250 a year, the same figure as Kubera Essentials, though Wealthica's pricing page doesn't state a currency and Kubera's prices are in US dollars. It's bilingual, with iOS and Android apps and a capital gains report on every plan.

Good

  • Built around Canadian institutions
  • Family, trust and entity groups
  • Capital gains report; English and French

Not so good

  • Connections can break, like any aggregator's
  • No documented multi-currency depth like Kubera's
  • No free plan listed

02Monarch Money

Best for budgeting plus net worth, with bank sync

Price
Core is US$14.99 a month or US$99.99 a year; Plus is US$199.99 a year. “All prices are billed in USD.” 7-day free trial, payment method required. No free plan.
How data gets in
Bank and investment connections; Monarch suggests using the trial to confirm your institutions connect reliably
Entities and family
Not assessed here; Monarch is budgeting-first

Monarch is available in Canada and adds what Kubera doesn't try to do: budgeting and spending. It connects bank and investment accounts, and costs US$99.99 a year for Core.

It bills in US dollars and doesn't publish a list of Canadian institutions; its Canada page suggests using the 7-day trial to "confirm your institutions connect reliably." TFSA and RRSP handling isn't documented.

Good

  • Budgeting and spending alongside net worth
  • Much cheaper than Kubera Black
  • Web, iOS and Android

Not so good

  • Billed in USD; no free plan
  • Canadian institution coverage isn't listed
  • No documented registered-account features

03LoonieeOurs

Best for registered-account room alongside property and private assets

Price
Free for 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions, no card. Plus is CA$9/mo, or CA$72/yr (CA$6/mo), with a 3-day Plus trial, card required.
How data gets in
Broker CSV/Excel import, AI screenshot import, or typing. Never a bank login
Entities and family
Up to 6 people on Plus, each with their own accounts and room; no entities or trusts

This is ours, and it fits a narrower case than Kubera. Looniee tracks investments plus manual assets (real estate, vehicles, private holdings, collectibles and cash-like assets) in their native currencies, rolled up to Canadian dollars at the exchange rate of each transaction's date. What it adds that Kubera doesn't document is Canadian registered-account room: TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP, worked out from CRA rules for each person.

It never connects to anything, so every account is imported from a broker file, a screenshot or typed in. It's free for 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions, and Plus is CA$9/mo, or CA$72/yr (CA$6/mo).

Good

  • TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP room per person
  • Manual assets and multi-currency holdings
  • A fraction of Kubera's price, with a free plan

Not so good

  • No sync of any kind
  • No liabilities or debt tracking, and no entities or trusts
  • Web only and English only

04A spreadsheet

Best for entities, private deals and anything unusual

Price
Free (Google Sheets) or whatever you already pay for Excel.
How data gets in
You type it, or paste your broker’s export
Entities and family
Any structure you can model

Plenty of complicated households end up here, and for good reason. A holding company, a partnership interest, a cottage owned in thirds: a spreadsheet models any of it, keeps the data on your own device or account, and costs nothing.

You give up automatic prices and sync unless you build them, and the formulas are only as right as you make them.

Good

  • Models any structure
  • Free and private
  • No vendor to outlive

Not so good

  • No sync or live prices unless you build them
  • Easy to break, hard to audit

05Sharesight

Best for the investment portfolio on its own

Price
Free (1 portfolio, 10 holdings, sold ones included). Starter CA$12/mo or CA$9/mo billed yearly (1 portfolio, 30 holdings); Standard CA$31/mo or CA$23.25/mo yearly (4 portfolios); Premium CA$39/mo or CA$29.25/mo yearly (10 portfolios). “Prices in CAD.”
How data gets in
Broker connection, trade-confirmation email forwarding or file upload, depending on the broker (14 Canadian brokers listed)
Entities and family
One portfolio per tax entity; Premium covers 10 portfolios

If Kubera's breadth is more than you need and what matters is the investments, Sharesight is a strong performance and tax tracker. It supports 14 Canadian brokers, tracks markets around the world, prices in Canadian dollars and has a Canadian capital gains report.

It doesn't do property, private assets or crypto wallets the way Kubera does, and it doesn't document room tracking.

Good

  • Performance and Canadian capital gains reports
  • Prices in CAD
  • Global market coverage

Not so good

  • Investments only
  • Room tracking isn't documented
  • Several entities need Premium (10 portfolios)

Why people look for an alternative

Kubera has too few public reviews to draw themes from (one Trustpilot review when we checked on October 1, 2026). The reasons to look around come from its own pages, checked October 7, 2026:

  • Price. Essentials is US$250 a year and Black is US$2,500, with no free plan and no monthly price on the homepage.
  • Connections drop. Kubera's help centre says plainly that "100% connectivity is impossible."
  • Little that's Canadian-specific. There's no Canada page, no published list of Canadian institutions, and nothing on TFSAs, RRSPs or contribution room.

Moving your history over

For investment accounts, export transaction history from each broker and import it into the new tracker; for Looniee, see how to export from Wealthsimple and how to export from Questrade. Property, private holdings and other manual assets have to be re-entered by hand in any tracker, so note their values and cost bases before you cancel.

Questions

What about Empower (Personal Capital) for Canadians?
Empower's support page says it "currently only support[s] U.S based financial institutions (currency in USD)" for linked accounts, and sign-up needs a US phone number. Canadian accounts can only be added manually, so it isn't a practical Kubera alternative here.
Is there a cheaper Kubera alternative that still syncs?
Wealthica syncs Canadian institutions from $6.25 a month or $50 a year (currency not stated), and Monarch from US$99.99 a year. Both are well below Kubera's US$250 entry price.
Which alternative tracks TFSA and RRSP room?
Looniee works out TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP room from CRA rules for each person. Wealthica has a Registered Contribution Tracker (announced 2022), though its pages don't say whether it calculates CRA room. Kubera, Monarch and Sharesight don't document room tracking.

We make Looniee, one of the products above. Every product's prices and features were checked on its own website (earliest check on this page: October 20, 2026). Kubera and the others change their plans, so confirm before you switch.
