Snowball is genuinely good for dividend investors. It has a dividend calendar, yield on cost, a dividend rating, custom withholding tax, performance with IRR and benchmarks, and native iOS and Android apps. Its Trustpilot average was 4.6 across 552 reviews when we read it on October 1, 2026. If the US-dollar price doesn't bother you and its broker linking works for you, staying is a sensible choice.
We make Looniee, one of the products below. For a dividend investor it isn't the first thing to reach for, and we've ranked it third.

01Sharesight
Best for synced dividends and tax settings, priced in CAD
The closest replacement if sync matters. Sharesight brings in dividends, DRIPs and splits on its own, and lists 14 Canadian brokers it supports through a connection, trade-confirmation emails or a file upload. Each portfolio gets a Canadian tax setting: in an RRSP or RRIF, US withholding doesn't apply to US stocks; in a TFSA, Canadian payouts are treated as non-taxable and US withholding still applies.
Unlike Snowball, its prices are stated in Canadian dollars, and it adds a Canadian capital gains report on the paid plans. The free plan is 10 holdings, and sold positions count toward it.
Good
- Automatic dividends, DRIPs and corporate actions
- Prices in CAD
- TFSA, RRSP and RRIF tax settings per portfolio
Not so good
- No dividend rating or yield-on-cost focus like Snowball's
- Free plan counts sold holdings toward its 10
- Room tracking isn't documented
02Stock Events
Best for a dividend and earnings calendar on your phone
Stock Events is a mobile-first calendar of dividends, earnings and other events for the stocks you hold or watch. It's free for up to 15 stocks, and the Canadian App Store lists Pro at CA$69.99 a year. Broker sync is a separate Connect add-on.
It's lighter than Snowball. TSX coverage isn't spelled out (the site says "50+ global exchanges"), the Canadian brokers Connect supports aren't listed, and it doesn't document anything about TFSAs, RRSPs or withholding.
Good
- Free for up to 15 stocks
- Priced in CAD on the Canadian App Store
- Clean mobile calendar of dividends and earnings
Not so good
- Broker sync is a paid weekly add-on
- TSX support and Canadian brokers aren't documented
- No documented registered-account handling
03LoonieeOurs
Best for withholding tax by account type, with no bank login
This is ours, and it's not a dividend app first. What it does well for dividend investors is the free Income tab: it estimates the foreign withholding each account actually loses based on where the company is based and the account type, not on the currency a stock trades in. A US stock in an RRSP and the same stock in a TFSA come out differently, as they should. Plus adds a dividend calendar with yield on cost.
Nothing syncs. You import your broker's CSV or Excel file, upload a screenshot, or type holdings, and you add new trades the same way. It's free for 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions, and it tracks TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP room per person.
Good
- Withholding estimated by issuer country × account type, free
- Contribution room per person
- No bank or broker login
Not so good
- No sync; dividends arrive with your next import
- Web only and English only
- No dividend rating; the calendar is Plus only
04Greenline
Best for a free no-login tracker with a dividend timeline
Greenline is a Canadian tracker that never connects to a bank. It shows a dividend timeline ("every payout, past and upcoming"), handles ACB with DRIPs and splits, reads PDF statements and screenshots, and has an iOS app. It's free with unlimited holdings while in beta, which beats Snowball's 10-holding free plan.
Paid pricing hasn't been announced, and full CSV export is still "on the way" according to its FAQ.
Good
- Free during beta, unlimited holdings
- Dividend timeline and ACB
- iOS app; reads PDF statements
Not so good
- Yield on cost and dividend ratings aren't documented
- Future pricing unknown
- No broker sync, by design
05Wealthica
Best for synced Canadian accounts with an income report
Wealthica connects to more than 200 core Canadian institutions and includes Income, Fees and Performance reports alongside a capital gains report. It's bilingual, with iOS and Android apps.
It isn't built around dividends the way Snowball is, and it no longer lists a free plan. Pick it if you want everything in one synced Canadian dashboard and dividends are one part of that.
Good
- Automatic sync across 200+ Canadian institutions
- Income and capital gains reports
- English and French, with mobile apps
Not so good
- No free plan listed
- Few dividend-specific tools
- Pricing page doesn't state a currency
Why people look for an alternative
Snowball's reviews are strong overall. The one- and two-star Trustpilot reviews from July 2025 to July 2026 (read October 1, 2026) are a small sample, with US, UK and Canadian reviewers, but they repeat a few themes:
- Sync and import errors. Wrong or missing numbers after a sync or import, and broker connections failing, including one from a Canadian reviewer in January 2026.
- The free plan after the trial. When the 14-day trial ends, the account drops to the free plan of 1 portfolio and 10 holdings, and anyone over the limit has to upgrade or remove holdings.
- Support and refunds. Some reviewers describe friction getting either.
- US-dollar pricing. Not a complaint in the reviews, but a fact for Canadians: "All prices are in USD."
Moving your history over
Snowball itself offers CSV export, but your broker's transaction history is the safest source, since it carries every dividend and reinvestment as the broker recorded it. Export from each broker and import into the new tracker. For Looniee: how to export from Wealthsimple and how to export from Questrade.
Questions
- Is there a Snowball alternative priced in Canadian dollars?
- Yes. Sharesight states its prices in CAD, Looniee and WealthWise price in CAD, and Stock Events shows CAD prices on the Canadian App Store. Greenline is free during its beta. Snowball's own prices are in USD.
- Which alternative handles foreign withholding tax in a TFSA or RRSP?
- Sharesight applies a tax setting per portfolio (RRSP and RRIF skip US withholding on US stocks; TFSA still loses it). Looniee's free Income tab estimates the withholding each account loses from the issuer's country and the account type. Snowball lets you set custom withholding. Our withholding tax guide explains the rules.
- What's the best free dividend tracker in Canada?
- Stock Events is free for up to 15 stocks and Greenline is free with unlimited holdings during its beta. Looniee's free plan includes the Income tab for 3 accounts and 10 holdings. Snowball's own free plan covers 1 portfolio and 10 holdings.
We make Looniee, one of the products above. Every product's prices and features were checked on its own website (earliest check on this page: October 20, 2026). Snowball Analytics and the others change their plans, so confirm before you switch.
