Looniee vs Wealthica (2026): a synced feed, or no connection at all

Wealthica is the Canadian aggregator most people compare against, and it is good at its job: one dashboard, kept up to date from more than 200 Canadian institutions. Looniee never connects to anything. We make Looniee, so read this knowing that. We've tried to write the page Wealthica's own team would call fair.

What Wealthica does better

It updates itself. This is the whole point of Wealthica and it's a real advantage. Once your accounts are connected, new trades, dividends and contributions show up without you doing anything. With Looniee, a trade you made last week isn't there until you import a newer file or type it in.

Coverage, including things Looniee can't see. Wealthica connects to more than 200 core Canadian institutions, bank accounts included, plus 500+ crypto exchanges and wallets. Looniee has no bank or chequing accounts unless you type the balance in, and no crypto sync at all.

Apps and French. Wealthica has iOS and Android companion apps and a French interface. Looniee runs in a phone browser, but there's no app-store app, and it's English only.

A capital gains report on every plan. Looniee's ACB and capital gains tools are part of Plus. Wealthica lists its Capital Gains report, with currency gains and losses, on all four plans.

What Looniee does better

Nothing to break, and nothing holding your logins. Aggregator connections drop. That's a property of aggregation, not of one company: Kubera's own help centre says plainly that "100% connectivity is impossible." Of Wealthica's six one-star Trustpilot reviews when we read them on October 1, 2026, four described sync or connection failures (a small sample, but a consistent one). Looniee has no connection to fail, and no third party holds a standing link to your accounts.

Room worked out from the rules, per person. Wealthica announced a Registered Contribution Tracker in 2022 for RRSP and TFSA contributions. Its pages don't say whether it calculates your CRA room or tracks a goal you set, or whether FHSA and RESP are included. Looniee's engines apply the rules themselves: TFSA withdrawals come back on January 1 of the next year, the RRSP's $2,000 over-contribution buffer, the FHSA's $8,000 carry-forward cap, and RESP grant catch-up. Each person in a household gets their own figure.

A free plan, and one price for the household. Wealthica's pricing page lists four paid plans and no free one. Looniee is free for one person up to the free caps, and Plus covers a household of up to 6 people for one price.

Withholding tax by where a company is based. Looniee's free Income tab estimates the foreign withholding each account actually loses from the issuer's country and the account type, rather than from the currency a stock trades in.

The real difference is how your data gets in

Feature by feature the two overlap a lot: net worth, holdings across accounts, dividends, capital gains, family members. Most of the differences on this page come from one design decision. Wealthica connects to your institutions and keeps that connection open. Looniee reads a file you give it once and keeps nothing connected.

Everything else follows from that. Wealthica is automatic but depends on connections staying healthy. Looniee is always as current as your last import, and can't break the way a sync breaks. If you check your portfolio daily and trade often, Wealthica's model will feel lighter. If you mostly hold ETFs in registered accounts and look in a few times a month, importing a file now and then is a small cost.

On price

At the entry level they're close. Wealthica's Connect plan is $6.25 a month or $50 a year for three core Canadian connections, and Unlimited Connect is $9.99 a month or $75 a year; the pricing page doesn't say which currency. Looniee Plus is CA$9/mo, or CA$72/yr (CA$6/mo), in Canadian dollars. The bigger difference is at the bottom: Looniee has a free plan (3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions) and Wealthica lists none.

Moving from Wealthica to Looniee

Your broker, not Wealthica, is the source of your history. Export your transactions from each broker and import those files: see how to export from Wealthsimple and how to export from Questrade. For room, start from the figure in CRA My Account and log contributions from there, or check it first with the free TFSA contribution room calculator.

Questions

Does Wealthica have a free plan?
Not one that's listed. Its pricing page, checked October 20, 2026, shows four paid plans from $6.25 a month or $50 a year, each with a 14-day trial. A November 2023 Wealthica blog post said a manual-only free tier would continue, but the current pricing page doesn't show it.
Can Wealthica track my TFSA contribution room?
Wealthica announced a Registered Contribution Tracker in February 2022 to help track contributions to RRSPs, TFSAs and other registered accounts. Its pages don't say whether it calculates your CRA room or tracks a goal you set, so ask Wealthica if that distinction matters to you. Either way, CRA My Account is the official figure.
Does Looniee connect to my bank or broker?
No. Looniee never asks for a bank or broker password. You import the CSV or Excel file your broker lets you download, upload a screenshot, or type holdings in. Market prices update automatically; your trades don't.
Is my data stored in Canada?
Not with Looniee. Its database, hosting and sign-in providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, and the privacy policy says so. Wealthica's data location wasn't on the pages we reviewed.
Can I use both?
Yes, and some people do: Wealthica for the synced daily view, and Looniee's free contribution room calculators for room. The calculators don't need an account.

Wealthica's prices and features were checked on its own website on October 20, 2026. Products change, so check anything that matters to you before you choose either one.
