Looniee vs WealthWise (2026): two Canadian trackers, different trade-offs

WealthWise and Looniee are both built in Canada for Canadian DIY investors, and both are young products. They differ on sync, language, where your data lives and how they treat registered accounts. We make Looniee, so read this knowing that. WealthWise wins on several points that matter to many readers, and we say which.

What WealthWise does better

Your data stays in Canada. WealthWise's privacy policy says its database is hosted in Canada. Looniee can't say that: its database, hosting and sign-in providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, and our privacy policy says so. If residency is a requirement for you, that settles it.

French. WealthWise is fully bilingual, with guides and articles in both languages. Looniee is English only.

Optional broker sync. WealthWise offers an optional read-only broker connection through SnapTrade (listed in its privacy policy), and its FAQ says connections depend on the institutions available. You can start with CSV imports or manual entry and connect later. Looniee has no sync at any price.

FIRE planning and extras. WealthWise tracks net worth with debts subtracted, sector, country and currency exposure and price alerts, and adds FIRE projections with 1,000 Monte Carlo scenarios and AI analysis on Premium. Looniee has no debt or liability tracking.

A trial with no card. Eligible accounts get 14 days of Premium without a card, and it doesn't convert to a paid plan when it ends. Looniee's Plus trial is 3 days and needs a card.

What Looniee does better

Room, not just accounts. WealthWise tracks RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, RRIF and RESP accounts separately, but room tracking isn't documented on its pages. Looniee works out room from the rules: TFSA withdrawals come back on January 1 of the next year, the RRSP's $2,000 over-contribution buffer, the FHSA's $8,000 carry-forward cap and RESP grant catch-up.

A household, each person separate. Looniee Plus tracks up to 6 people in one login, with each person's room kept apart, so a couple can see the household's net worth and each partner's TFSA room on one screen. Household features aren't documented on WealthWise's pages. More on how this works: Looniee for couples.

Never connects. WealthWise's sync is optional and read-only, which is a reasonable design. Looniee goes further and never asks for a broker or bank login at all, so there is nothing to re-authorise and nothing to break.

A free plan with its limits spelled out. WealthWise's free plan is one portfolio, and its pricing page says only that an account limit applies to assets. Looniee's is 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 500 transactions, which suits someone with a TFSA, an RRSP and an FHSA at different institutions.

Capital gains and withholding. Looniee Plus calculates average-cost ACB across your non-registered accounts. Its free Income tab estimates foreign withholding from where each company is based and which account holds it. Neither is documented as a WealthWise feature.

On price

WealthWise's beta prices are CA$4.99 a month or CA$49 a year for Essential (3 portfolios, 50 assets each) and CA$9.99 a month or CA$99 a year for Premium (unlimited, FIRE projections, AI analysis). Its pricing page calls them "beta prices in Canadian dollars, subject to offer availability", with your price and taxes confirmed before payment. Looniee Plus is CA$9/mo, or CA$72/yr (CA$6/mo).

If you only need what WealthWise Essential covers, its beta pricing is lower than Looniee Plus. If you want a broker connection, WealthWise offers one and Looniee doesn't at any price.

Both are young products

WealthWise labels itself beta. Looniee is also new, and neither has a long track record or a large base of public reviews yet. Both have free plans, so the cheapest way to choose is to import the same broker file into each and see which one you'd open again next month.

Moving to Looniee

Export transactions from each broker and import them: see how to export from Wealthsimple and how to export from Questrade. For room, start from the figure in CRA My Account, or check it first with the free FHSA contribution room calculator or TFSA calculator.

Questions

Is WealthWise data stored in Canada?
WealthWise's privacy policy says its database is hosted in Canada. Looniee's data may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States, as its privacy policy explains.
Does WealthWise connect to my broker?
Only if you choose to. Its privacy policy lists an optional read-only connection through SnapTrade, and its FAQ says connections depend on the institutions available. Otherwise you import CSV or Excel files or type entries. Looniee never connects.
Does WealthWise track contribution room?
It tracks RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, RRIF and RESP accounts separately. Room tracking wasn't documented on the pages we reviewed on October 20, 2026, so ask WealthWise if it matters to you. CRA My Account is the official figure either way.
Is either available in French?
WealthWise is fully bilingual. Looniee is English only.

WealthWise's prices and features were checked on its own website on October 20, 2026. Products change, so check anything that matters to you before you choose either one.
